The Disappearance of Susan Powell
On December 6th, 2009, Susan Cox Powell vanished from her home in West Valley City, Utah. Despite numerous searches and investigations, she has yet to be found. This blog post will provide an overview of the case and the events leading up to her disappearance.
Background Information
Susan Cox Powell was born on October 16th, 1981 in Spokane, Washington. She was married to Josh Powell in 2001 and they had two sons together – Charlie and Braden. In 2009, Josh and Susan moved with their sons to West Valley City in Utah. It was around this time that tensions began rising between the couple.
The Disappearance
On December 7th, 2009, Josh reported his wife as missing after she failed to show up for work or call in sick. According to him, he took their two young boys camping at midnight the previous night and returned around 2 a.m., only to find his wife missing without a trace or any clues about where she could have gone. He said that she must have left without saying anything while they were away camping.
Investigation & Suspicion
The police quickly began investigating Josh due to inconsistencies in his story and reports from family members who had noticed tension and potential abuse during the marriage leading up to Susan’s disappearance. After several months of searching for clues without success, no arrests were made but Josh remained a person of interest throughout the course of the investigation until February 5th 2012 when he committed suicide by setting fire to his home while his two young sons were inside it with him. The police continued their search for Susan until 2019 when they finally declared her case closed due to lack of further evidence or leads on her whereabouts or what happened on the night of her disappearance.
The disappearance of Susan Cox Powell is still one of the most mysterious cases in Utah's history – ten years later and many questions remain unanswered about what happened that fateful night when she vanished without a trace from her home in West Valley City. Despite all efforts made by investigators over the years, it seems that we may never know what truly happened on December 6th 2009 or where Susan is today - if she is even still alive at all! We can only hope that one day justice will be served for this tragedy so her family can finally get some closure over this heartbreaking case once and for all.
