Susan Cox Powell was born on October 16th, 1981 in Spokane, Washington. She was married to Josh Powell in 2001 and they had two sons together – Charlie and Braden. In 2009, Josh and Susan moved with their sons to West Valley City in Utah. It was around this time that tensions began rising between the couple.

The Disappearance

On December 7th, 2009, Josh reported his wife as missing after she failed to show up for work or call in sick. According to him, he took their two young boys camping at midnight the previous night and returned around 2 a.m., only to find his wife missing without a trace or any clues about where she could have gone. He said that she must have left without saying anything while they were away camping.

Investigation & Suspicion

The police quickly began investigating Josh due to inconsistencies in his story and reports from family members who had noticed tension and potential abuse during the marriage leading up to Susan’s disappearance.
