St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick’s Day: A Utah Girl’s Guide to Fruity Drinks

I hate beer, I can stand a few ales but I have rarely found a beer that doesn’t make me gag. Sorry, to all the beer lovers. I am a festive person though and I want to be part of a good time. Here’s my compromise, a few fun drinks that I order or make during St. Patrick’s day. I am located in Utah so I’m going to recommend a few drinks from popular places I’ve been. If you like to be surprised there is liquor in your drink, subscribe now cause I am the girl you need to follow.

Let’s get started. Make sure you have a DD or Uber handy…

Market Street Grill

Jackalope - Jack Rabbit Gin, Cointreau, basil, lime juice, simple syrup and ginger ale.

It’s fruity and delicious without being overly liquor-y. I’m a lightweight so I recommend a few for my seasoned drinkers.

The Red Door

Washington Apple Martini- Crown Royal ,Sour Apple Pucker , and Cranberry Juice

It’s not as sweet as some of the others sound but it’s got a smoother taste for me. I recommend doing more

Iron Door Jordan Landing

Blonde Bombshell - I might have the name wrong but ask the wait staff. The drink is almost like a Piña Colada on crack. I love it.  I am not sure what is in it, but it’s to die for.

If you don’t feel like going out, I recommend making a few fun drinks for your friends and yourself to enjoy!

Rule number one, everything is green. So grab some food coloring.

Easy Whiskey Sour Recipe

Ingredients:

1.5 oz  Woodford Reserve Whiskey (Really smooth but other whiskey will work)

.75 oz  Fresh Lemon Juice (1 lemon should do the trick)

1.25 oz  Simple Syrup (Boil 1 part sugar and 1 part water, if you don’t have it on hand)

1 Slice of Orange

Pour in lemon juice from lemon, then add simple syrup. Add in the shot of whiskey and fill up another cup with ice. Pour the mixture between two cups until you have chilled the liquid. Strain it into a cup with your orange slice already inside. This gives the strong drink a nice flavor and looks cool floating in the cup. This won’t turn out green but if you add a drop of green food coloring, you will feel festive.

Easy Mule Recipe

1 Copper cup

I cup Ice

6 oz Ginger beer

.75 oz Sweetened Lime Juice

1 slice of lime for juice

1 slice of lime for garnish

1.5 oz lime vodka

.5 oz peach whiskey (I like Jim Bean)

Start with the copper cup filed with ice, pour in the ginger bear until you get to about 2/3 of the cup. I would say that is about 6 oz. Add the sweetened lime juice, vodka, and whiskey. Finish off with the squeezed lime and add the garnish lime. Turning this green is a little overkill for me but feel free to add a dash of color.

Enjoying drinks that taste good and don’t leave me with a hangover is my goal whenever I decide to have a nice night out or at home. I will be posting more ideas and sharing some tips for enjoying life in my area. If you haven’t already subscribed. Make sure to fill out the page at the bottom.
